The Controls System Engineer will contribute to all aspects of industrial automation of the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generator. Some of the advanced configurations of the ORC generator use Siemens inverters to deliver power to the local grid and allow conformance to more advanced grid requirements in the EU. The first major tasks for this role will be working with the Siemens inverters, and the conversion of the controls system into the Siemens PLC platform.
Ongoing tasks will include maintenance of the Siemens control software variant, and product development / improvements to the ORC control system. The successful candidate will develop a strong technical knowledge of the ORC system, subsystems, and all components, as well the applications for the units.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
5+ years of experience as Controls Engineer programming industrial controls
Experience programming Siemens PLC and HMI hardware (TIA Portal)
Experience with code debugging, troubleshooting, and test plans
Experience with strong MS Excel skills, including VBA macros
BS in Electrical Engineering or related
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Experience or understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
Experience converting AutomationDirect PLC's & HMI's to Siemens TIA Portal
Experience with heat recovery solutions utilizing the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC)
