The environmental engineer is responsible for water/wastewater program (drinking water, industrial wastewater, sewer treatment, water discharge, and disposal permits), hazardous/universal waste program and supervision of hourly staff.

The position involves a great deal of complex problem solving with the operation and troubleshooting of the different water systems, many of which are state-of-the-art for the specific application such as ultra-filtration. Individual must work independently to champion improvements and operations. Also, collaboratively to seek continuous improvement to the way these systems interact with the overall plant operation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Class One West Virginia Domestic Water and Wastewater Certification
1+ years of experience in environmental field with water/wastewater laboratory techniques
Experience ensuring water/wastewater systems are In compliance with federal, state and local regulations and standards
Experience with backflow prevention, RCRA, DOT hazardous waste and HAZWOPPER.
Experience operating & monitoring water/wastewater treatment facilities
Experience managing a hazardous/universal waste program
Must be ITAR compliant
Comfortable with Union Environment
BS in Engineering or related

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience as a supervisor or manager
Experience working with competitors Aleris, Arconic, Special Metals, Novelis, Kaiser, United Aluminum
MS in Engineering
