The packaging engineering manager will manage 3 direct reports (1 Packaging Process Engineer, 1 Mechanical Engineer, 1 Mechanical Engineer Technician) and the entire packaging operation for their surgical papers, foils, and films into sterilizable – EtO, Radiation, Steam/Autoclave, Dry Heat, and Retort – and/or high-barrier pouches and roll stock.
They will contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice production engineering; planning vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Drive continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of existing processes and remove waste.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
7+ years of experience as a process or mechanical engineer in packaging industry
2+ years of experience managing process engineers
2+ years of experience leading continuous improvement (CI) projects and are able to quantify their results with lean or six sigma methodologies
Experience planning and directing the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment
Experience with machine validation
Experience with statistical analysis (preferably using Minitab)
Experience with Solidworks
BS in Engineering (preferably BSME or packaging)
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Experience with packaging operations for Medical Device, Diagnostic, Healthcare, Food, or Pharmaceutical
Six Sigma certification
MS in engineering
