The Sales/Application Engineer will be working to find ceramic composite solutions in an R&D environment for complex customer issues. These will mostly be for harsh environments where standard materials fail such as space, oil drilling, nuclear applications, high temperature or pressure pumps, etc. This position is not much on the "sales" side but rather the mediator between the engineering dept and customer to create unique solutions for all many applications which includes a large amount of time designing these ceramic composite parts as well as tools and fixtures for testing and manufacturing.
They are strictly doing the R&D work not the manufacturing, so they are working directly with customers and manufacturing (usually the same people)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
2+ years of experience designing ceramic composite products
2+ years of experience with 3D modeling using SolidWorks
Experience with simulation and testing of ceramic composite products
Experience with creating tooling and fixtures for manufacturing
Strong material science background
Experience with autoclaves or kilns
BS in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Experience with R&D projects for ceramic composites for space or other harsh environment applications
Experience with RFQ's and technical proposals
